On April 20, four House members filed House Bill 867, the Coastal Fisheries Conservation and Economic Development Act. This legislation would accomplish the policy priorities of NC Sound Economy, including:
- Prioritizing resource conservation and growth
- Requiring fisheries managers to use the best available science for decision making
- Taking a long-term approach that will benefit all sectors of the fishing economy
